Description
November 6, 2020 "Better Together: How the Drupal Community Can Change the World." by Heather Rocker, Executive Director of the Drupal Association.
We know that open source projects need engaged communities in order to thrive, but how does a sense of community affect your personal and professional aspirations? We'll explore how community creates innovation, empowers collective wisdom, and inspires us - both as individuals and as a team - to go farther than we imagined. Our community has the power to drive Drupal, and Drupal has the power to enable positive impact on the world!
About Heather
As Executive Director of the Drupal Association, Heather leads a team dedicated to building community, connections, and careers through Drupal. With a focus on accelerating Drupal growth in terms of contribution and adoption, the organization supports the Project’s vision to create a safe, secure, and open web for everyone.
Heather has professional experience in both corporate and nonprofit sectors including service as Executive Director of Women in Technology, CEO of Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta, and Managing Director of business and technology consulting firm, SEI-Atlanta. Her dedication to the community led to board service with FIRST Robotics, TAG Education Collaborative, Georgia Tech Alumni Association, Junior League and Atlanta Women’s Alliance along with volunteer leadership roles for Emerge Scholarships, TechBridge, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Points of Light, and the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Heather speaks to organizations around the country about utilizing robust volunteer programs as a professional development strategy and is a published author on the subject of strategic volunteering. She is a two-time presenter at the National Conference on Volunteering & Service and was selected to become a member of the Leadership Faculty for the Points of Light Corporate Institute.
